Right now, we are continuing the State of Emergency Declaration as we are having continuing threats to people and property with persistent rain.

Roadways are open with altered traffic on Broadway (30A) today and Main Street (Route 5) tomorrow. This traffic alteration is to clean storm drains and maintenance holes.

I have reached out to Federal, State, and County leadership for assistance, and I hope to meet with them in the coming days – so far, nothing has occurred. I will meet with Town Highway Supervisor Bill Holvig, Dave Soulia, County Highway Assistant Director, and Chris Weaver, Fonda Water & Street Commissioner, at 1:00 PM. We are attempting to divert any additional flooding with rains expected this weekend.

We ask that people divert their travel outside of the Village unless they have business in the Village of Fonda as we continue cleaning and maintaining these areas.

I want to thank the Town of Mohawk Fire Department, Montgomery County Emergency Management, Fonda, Fort Plain, Canajoharie Department of Public Works, Fultonville Fire Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Fonda Reformed Church, NYS DOT Fultonville, NYS Thruway Authority, and the many people that responded and came to assist and support the responders to our flooding incident.

I will continue to update you as often as I can.

Thank You,
Bill Peeler, Mayor
