The Village website is intended to provide residents, property owners, businesses, visitors and members of the public with convenient access to Village information, documents, services and government resources.
You can browse much of the Village website without providing personal information. In some circumstances, you may choose to provide information to the Village, such as when submitting a question, requesting assistance, sending a document or using an online service.
This Privacy Statement explains, in general terms, how information may be collected and used when you interact with the Village of Fonda website.

Village Communication Form
The Village provides a secure online Communication Form to help members of the public contact Village government. Information submitted through the Communication Form is used to receive, review, route and respond to the communication.
Depending upon the nature of the request, information may be provided to the Village official, employee, department or other appropriate person responsible for addressing the matter.
Important
The Village Communication Form should not be used to submit passwords, financial account information, payment-card information, Social Security numbers or other highly sensitive information unless the Village specifically provides a secure process requesting that information for an authorized purpose.
Online payments should be made only through the payment process identified on the Village’s official Payments & Billing page — not through the general Communication Form.

The Village Communication Form allows users to submit documents or files in support of a request. Accepted formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, PDF, DOC and DOCX (maximum 10 MB per file).
Files submitted to the Village may contain personal information selected by the person submitting the file. Before uploading a document, users should review the file and provide only the information reasonably necessary for the intended Village purpose.
Files received by the Village may become Village records and may be subject to applicable records-retention and public-record requirements.

Website Security & Abuse Prevention
The Village may use reasonable technical measures to protect its website, online forms and public services from spam, automated abuse, malicious activity and other security threats. These measures may involve the temporary processing of technical information associated with a website request.

Public Records & FOIL
Information Submitted to Government May Become a Government Record
Communications and documents submitted to the Village may become Village records. Village records are maintained and managed in accordance with applicable records-retention requirements.
Some Village records may also be subject to disclosure under the New York Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), subject to the exemptions and protections provided by law.
Submitting information to the Village through the website does not necessarily make every piece of information publicly available. Whether a particular Village record is subject to disclosure depends upon applicable law and the circumstances of the request.
For information about requesting Village records, use the Village’s FOIL & Public Records information.
FOIL & Public RecordsOnline Payments
The Village provides access to online payment services for Village taxes and water and sewer bills through an outside payment service. Online payments are processed through the Village’s third-party payment provider, Point & Pay.
The Village of Fonda website does not directly collect or process payment-card information. When a user selects an online payment option, the user is directed to the Point & Pay payment portal. Information provided directly to that payment provider is subject to the provider’s applicable privacy and security practices.
For Village payment options, use the Village’s Payments & Billing page.

Email Communications
If you communicate with the Village by email, the information contained in your email is transmitted through the email systems used by you and the Village. Email communications received by the Village may become government records and may be retained in accordance with applicable records-management requirements.

Information received by the Village may be shared within Village government when reasonably necessary to respond to a request, administer a Village service, perform official duties or meet legal requirements. Information may also be disclosed when required or authorized by applicable law.
The Village does not treat every communication received through its website as a confidential communication. At the same time, the fact that information is submitted to the Village does not mean that all of that information is automatically available for public disclosure. Applicable laws determine the treatment of government records and any available protections or exemptions.
Children’s Privacy
The Village website provides general public information and government services. The website is not designed for the purpose of collecting personal information from children. Parents and guardians should use appropriate care when a child communicates with the Village or submits information online.
