The Village of Fonda is proud to announce that in 2025, we will be home to a brand-new Visitor Center and Tourism Kiosk—a joint initiative with Montgomery County aimed at welcoming visitors, supporting our small businesses, and highlighting the unique offerings of our historic community.
This kiosk is part of a broader county-wide effort to enhance tourism across the region and make it easier for both travelers and residents to discover everything Montgomery County has to offer—from canal-era landmarks to local eateries and outdoor destinations.
Positioned in a high-visibility area near the waterfront and Fonda Park, the kiosk will serve as a key feature of the Village’s continued revitalization efforts. It will provide information on local attractions, parks, upcoming events, walking and biking trails, and much more. A connected Visitor Center structure is also being planned to support those exploring our community on foot, by bike, or by vehicle.
“We are excited to be part of this larger tourism initiative and thankful to Montgomery County and MCBDC for including Fonda in this important project,” said Mayor Bill Peeler. “This kiosk and visitor center will complement all of the improvements happening in Fonda Park and throughout the Village. It’s another step forward in making Fonda a welcoming and accessible destination for visitors and residents alike.”
The addition of the kiosk in Fonda aligns with Montgomery County’s efforts to boost local tourism infrastructure, including installations already active in Fort Plain, Canajoharie, and St. Johnsville. It also supports Fonda’s position as a hub along the Erie Canalway Trail and our growing waterfront and event space. See Montgomery County’s Press Release Here
