Un-Permitted Peddlers in the Village of Fonda
Attention Residents:
The Village of Fonda has observed increased unpermitted peddling activities within our community and neighboring areas. We want to remind everyone that, as of this date, no peddler permits have been issued in the Village of Fonda for the current year.
Under Local Law Chapter §107, it is illegal for anyone to hawk, peddle, or sell goods, wares, merchandise, or food within the Village of Fonda without an authorized permit.
If you encounter a peddler at your residence or elsewhere in the community:
- Do Not Let Them Inside Your Home. Politely decline their request for entry, no matter their reason for visiting.
- Do Not Provide Personal Information. Avoid sharing sensitive details such as your name, financial information, or contact details.
- Verify Their Identity. If they claim to have a permit or represent a legitimate business, request official documentation and verify it directly with the Village Clerk’s Office at 518.853.4335.
If you witness or interact with an unpermitted peddler, we strongly encourage you to report the incident to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office dispatch, non-emergency line: 518.853.5500. When filing a report, please provide as much detail as possible, such as:
- A description of the individual(s).
- Any vehicle information, including license plate number, make, and color.
- The time, location, and nature of the encounter.
- Any documentation, flyers, or business cards provided.
