The water main break on Route 5 West has been successfully repaired. Ground movement caused the break, which eroded the bottom of a large water main beneath the state roadway.
A LIMITED BOIL WATER NOTICE has been issued for customers who lost water service today. This includes residents and businesses from Route 5 West of the Cayadutta Creek to the Shrine and those in the Hickory Hill, Pilling Drive, and Perry Lane areas. Village DPW crews are actively posting notices at homes throughout the affected areas.
The Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until further notice, pending water testing. Please follow the recommendation to bring your water to a full boil for 2-3 minutes before consumption. As with any disruption, you may experience discoloration in your water. Running water to clear your lines may be necessary.
For more detailed information, visit the New York State Drinking Water Program.
Bottled water is available for affected customers. The clerk’s office at the Village Municipal Building can help you receive bottled water. Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM.
Please be cautious of the patched area on Route 5 in the westbound lane just before Hickory Hill Road. Digging was required to complete the repair, and signs were posted in the area. NYS DOT plans to blacktop this section by Thursday, August 22, 2024, before the weekend.
